The Government has decided on a new humanitarian aid package to Ukraine of 110 million kronor. The largest part will go towards helping the civilian population during the winter, for example by securing access to heat, electricity, medicine, and water.
The Minister for Development Cooperation and Trade, Benjamin Dousa (M), points out that Russia, in its warfare, is targeting civil infrastructure and has knocked out large parts of the heat and electricity supply in Ukraine.
"This will, of course, have serious consequences as it gets colder," he comments in a press release.
Of the 110 million, 50 million will go to the Red Cross for efforts to help the civilian population and 20 million to UNHCR to support Ukrainian internally displaced persons.
The UN Development Programme UNDP will receive 30 million for its work on mapping the presence of mines and securing agricultural land.
The UN Population Fund UNFPA will receive ten million to, among other things, prevent sexual violence and support vulnerable women.
