Elon Musk himself dismisses the criticism and calls it tedious and foul play, on his own platform X. He describes it as the time for criticism à la "everyone is Hitler" being over.
Trump advisor and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk held a short speech during the event at Capitol One Arena when he, twice, made a gesture towards the audience in the arena, accompanied by a:
I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, said Musk.
Thanks to you, we have secured our civilization's survival.
The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post asks itself, in a headline, if Elon Musk made a Hitler salute during the installation, but does not provide its own answer to the question.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in the USA, an organization that fights against anti-Semitism and discrimination, does not seem to agree that it was a Nazi salute Musk made.
"It appears that Elon Musk made a clumsy gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute. But we appreciate that people are vigilant," says ADL in a statement, according to Reuters.
