In total, the Musk Foundation distributed over 2.6 billion kronor to various projects.
This is shown by the foundation's tax return, which Bloomberg has taken a closer look at. The significant increase in value comes mainly from the foundation's Tesla shares.
Of the billions distributed, a large part went to projects controlled by Musk himself or his companies. The largest part (1.5 billion kronor) went to The Foundation, which he started to establish schools with a focus on natural sciences and mathematics.
The foundation has also donated money to several smaller charitable foundations that he controls, as well as smaller posts to, among other things, Boston University and various educational organizations in Texas.
In the USA, where charitable donations entail tax relief, it is common to make large allocations to various foundations. According to the Tax Authority, a foundation must donate at least 5 percent of its assets each year, something Musk has not managed to do more than a few years.
