The municipality of Kumla is being pressed for money after a cyberattack.

We have received an email stating that they have taken data from us and want to be paid not to leak the information, says municipal director Gunilla Mueller Prabin.

The extortion email arrived on Tuesday morning.

The cyberattack was discovered on Saturday morning. The municipality was able to establish that someone had gained access to the system and obtained access to sensitive information.

We do not know what information they have taken, but we can see that they have been in all our systems.

As a result of the cyberattack, a personal data incident has occurred, which has been reported to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection. Gunilla Mueller Prabin does not want to say what kind of incident it is.

The municipality, which has gone into crisis mode, is now working to get a clearer picture of what has happened.
