One person, a 47-year-old man, has been confirmed dead after the attack, reports The Kyiv Independent hours after the nighttime attack. Among the injured is also a two-month-old baby, according to the local governor Ivan Federov.
Housing buildings have been damaged and there are reports of people trapped under rubble, according to Fedorov.
Several explosions were heard in the city in southeastern Ukraine during the night against Thursday. At the same time, the military warned of Russian missile attacks in several regions.
"We need increased sanctions against Russia, more air defense systems to defend our cities and more weapons for our warriors on the front lines", says President Volodymyr Zelenskyj on social media as a response to the attack on Zaporizjzja.
