MTV News website has been shut down, a year after owner Paramount decided to scrap the news channel, reports The Wrap. Now the site's archive with articles and reports from over 20 years ago is said to have vanished completely.

In May 2023, the decision was made to scrap MTV's news operation, MTV News, after 36 years. The channel's news broadcasts started in 1987 as a magazine with music news presented by programme host Kurt Loder.

Over time, the programme grew to include more frequent broadcasts, also covering news on popular culture, politics, and sex. The channel also made an online effort, in the form of a news website.

In 2016, a restructuring of the site was carried out to more closely resemble American BuzzFeed. However, a year later, a complete turnaround occurred, with almost the entire staff being laid off.
