In December 2023, the police apprehended a heavily intoxicated woman at a gas station in Solna. The woman, who is in her 40s and resides in Uppsala Municipality, stated that she had a small child at home.
A police patrol broke into the residence and found the child in a crib with an overflowing diaper. The child had no access to food or water.
The woman has admitted to leaving the child at home, but denies any crime. She is sentenced to one year and six months in prison for assault and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
The child, who escaped physical harm, has been placed in a foster home since the incident.
