Möregårdh advances – faces Lebrun

The Olympic Games in Paris last summer were not only a personal success but also gave Swedish table tennis an enormous boost. Now Truls Möregårdh is back in France. The silver medalist in the summer games defeated Darko Jorgic with 3–1 in sets at the World Tour tournament in Montpellier.

Nice to be back. I love France, he says, according to SVT.

The victory against Slovenian Jorgic required a lot of the best from Möregårdh, who brought out the top game in the last two sets, which he won with 11–5, 11–1.

I'm grateful for the support from the audience tonight. I love France and only have good things to say about the country. It was nice to be back, says Möregårdh.

He can't expect as much support from the stands in the next match. In that, he'll face fresh European Championship gold medalist Alexis Lebrun, who knocked out Möregårdh in the semifinal in Linz.

Lebrun is not only French, he's also from Montpellier.

I'll probably have some against me in the next match, but it'll be fun anyway, says Möregårdh.
