It can be compared to 465 reports in 2023 – thus an increase of 144 cases.
"The increase represents a trend break and can be the result of the proactive supervision conducted by the Bar Association", says Mia Edwall Insulander, the Bar Association's Secretary-General in a press release.
In total, the disciplinary board settled 229 cases, where 145 cases led to the lawyer being penalized. A total of five people were expelled from the Bar Association.
Last year, the limit for penalty fees was raised when lawyers seriously breached good legal practice. The amount now ranges from 10,000 to 250,000 kronor.
In a total of 28 cases, lawyers were given a warning with a penalty fee.
