"He's going to come in and contribute with positive energy," says sports manager Henrik Gradin on Modo's website.
Fredrik Andersson comes most recently from Norwegian Vålerengen but has a long history in Modo as a player, coach, and sports manager.
His latest coaching assignment in Sweden was with rival Timrå, where he was fired in March 2022.
One round remains in SHL before the qualification against HV71, which will be decided in best of seven matches, starts on Friday.
Now he's stepping in alongside head coach Mattias Karlin.
"Freddan was available here at home and we think it feels right to bring him in now. He's been in similar situations before and has experienced playoff games, he has a lot of experience and also has a Modo heart," says Henrik Gradin.
