Over 50 workers have been found dead since a methane leak triggered an explosion in an Iranian coal mine, reports the state media in the country.
About 70 people were working in the mine at the time of the accident. A number of them are feared to be trapped due to rubble after the explosion.
The mine is located in Tabas, over 50 miles southeast of Tehran.
Iran uses 3.5 million tons of the polluting coal as fuel every year. Approximately half of it is extracted within the country, while the rest is imported.
