The discovery follows a larger outbreak on the other side of the border, in the American state of Texas. So far, over 200 people have been infected and two have died.
All cases in Mexico are linked to the outbreak in the USA, according to health authorities in the country. More than half of those infected are children under nine years old.
Throughout last year, seven cases of measles were registered in Mexico, all linked to abroad.
Measles is highly contagious and was previously a classic childhood disease, but has been rare since vaccinations began in the 1970s. However, as the vaccination rate has decreased in, among other places, the USA, the disease has once again gained a foothold.
Symptoms include high fever, dry cough, irritated eyes, and rash. However, the disease can also lead to severe complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis, and in rare cases, death.
