The mass shooting at Risbergska school has shaken the country. On Sunday's high mass, royals, politicians, and Örebro residents gathered at Längbro church to honor the victims.
I hope the victims feel warmth, love, and consideration that can possibly carry them forward, says Crown Princess Victoria to TV4 News.
The high mass, she thought, was "very nice".
It was very bright, just around the weight of light and the light of community, it's something I take with me,
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel also visited the memorial site outside Risbergska school. It was a very emotional Victoria, with tears in her eyes, who laid down flowers to honor the victims of the shooting.
"Important to gather"
Already an hour and a half before the service, a queue formed outside Längbro church – and when the vicar Anders Lennartsson began the high mass, the pews were fully occupied.
Among others, the Crown Prince couple, the leader of the Left Party Nooshi Dadgostar, and Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) were seen.
The week has been very heavy for us in Örebro and in all of Sweden. Gathering here feels important, says Svantesson, who lives in the city, to TT.
She says that the act has come very close, with a feeling of incredible sorrow.
(Risbergska) is a school where our oldest son graduated from, says Elisabeth Svantesson.
The high mass at Längbro church – about three kilometers from Risbergska – was led by Archbishop Martin Modéus, who, among other things, spoke about supporting each other in a crisis situation.
"Comforting"
One of those present was Eva, who lives opposite the school and saw the shooting from her window.
You didn't really understand what was happening, but now you've really seen the extent of it. One of my friends was shot and didn't survive, she says.
Total, ten people were killed in the mass shooting. Among them were seven women and three men – all from Örebro county. The suspected perpetrator is also dead.
Considering everything that has happened, it's comforting to come here. It's nice that so many show up to pay their respects. I see it as believing in humanity now, says Eva.
