At least 20 people, but probably over 50, died when an overloaded boat capsized on Lake Kivu on the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.
The boat had around 100 passengers but only had space for 30, says Governor Jean-Jacques Purusi to a local radio station.
At least ten people have been rescued, but witnesses tell AP that they have seen at least 50 bodies pulled out of the water. The authorities have only confirmed over 20 deaths.
In June, more than 80 people died after a boat capsized in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
