Many engineers have been urged by their employers to work more at the office and less remotely. But there is a lack of space at workplaces to accommodate all staff. This is shown by a new survey from Sweden's Engineers.

In the survey, every fourth trade union for engineers reported that higher demands for office presence have been introduced over the past year. At the same time, nearly 30 percent of the trade unions reported that there is no capacity at their workplace to accommodate all staff.

"A rapid and unthought-out restriction of remote work can have major negative consequences. Sweden's Engineers believe that there is every reason to evaluate what type of work is best handled at the office and what is best handled remotely. The answers will not be the same for all companies," says Johan Kreicbergs, chief economist at Sweden's Engineers in a press release.

The survey by Sweden's Engineers was conducted in October and included 2,000 members and 476 trade unions, academic associations, at workplaces across Sweden.
