The parents themselves took the child to healthcare in Västerås, from where it was transported further to Akademiska Hospital in Uppsala. There, the healthcare services alerted the police, who arrested the parents on the spot. The man was detained while the woman was released. She is, however, still suspected, according to the police.
It is a lower degree of suspicion that has led to her being released, says Stefan Larsson, press spokesperson for the police.
On Monday, the man was arrested for aggravated assault, reports Expressen.
The extent of the injuries is not something I can communicate more than that they are serious injuries directed at the head, says Stefan Larsson.
Both parents deny the allegations.
The parents' residence has been cordoned off for technical investigation.
