The now 29-year-old man, born in Pakistan, is convicted of two attempted murders and conspiracy to commit a terrorist act. He is also said to have wanted to set fire to the local where he mistakenly believed Charlie Hebdo's editorial office was still located.
Five more people, also born in Pakistan, are convicted of conspiracy to commit a terrorist act after having helped and supported the man. They are sentenced to between three and twelve years in prison.
The act was carried out simultaneously with the trial surrounding the major terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo's editorial office in the French capital in 2015, which claimed twelve lives.
The motive behind the 2020 attack was to avenge Charlie Hebdo after the magazine re-published caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
