Living after the murder: "Don't think I'll feel anxious"

A 25-year-old man was shot to death at a restaurant in Midsommarkransen on Saturday evening. It's terrible, of course, says Alf Thorsell, who lives in the area.

In the morning, the cordons are lifted. There are no signs of the shooting that took place at the location the night before. Outside the restaurant, a lit candle stands. A few people walk by and stop outside.

Alf Thorsell is out walking his dog Gösta. They took an evening stroll just half an hour before the shooting last night.

It's terrible, of course. It's the development that has been going on lately, he says.

The worst is that it comes and goes. It's so common now.

Will affect the atmosphere

Alf Thorsell thinks that one has to wait and see what really happened, what kind of shooting it was and why.

The worst is if it would lead to revenge actions. If it would continue here.

The restaurant has he visited several times and describes it as a nice place to have a beer with friends. He has never felt unsafe or scared in the area.

How this will affect people is hard to say - but it will affect in some way, he thinks.

It will probably affect the atmosphere in the area.

Heard the shots

A woman who lives in the area tells that she heard the shots last night.

I understood that someone was shot.

Large numbers of police cars were quickly on the scene, she tells.

The worst is that it happens inside a restaurant, where there are people who are completely innocent. It's extremely tragic, 25 years old, she says.

Another resident describes the area as very calm, a bit like a small town.

I haven't felt worried before and won't do it now either, she says.

A man who lives nearby heard the police cars in the evening and saw them drive by.

It is what it is, he says the morning after.

Will it affect your daily life from now on?

Absolutely not.
