In 1980, a person consumed on average 162 liters of milk per year, compared to 61 liters in 2023. This does not include milk used to produce other dairy products.

The statistics also show that we eat more poultry: 23 kilos per person and year in 2023, four times as much as in 1980. At the same time, the total consumption of meat has increased by 24 percent to 79 kilos per person and year.

However, a decrease has occurred in recent years in meat consumption, notes the agency. Poultry is the only type of meat for which consumption has increased instead of decreased, compared to 2022.

Since 1980, the consumption of chocolate and confectionery has also increased by 67 percent, to 16 kilos per person and year last year.
