A large fire has broken out in a forested slope in northern Rome. Residents and staff at the Italian TV company RAI's headquarters and an astronomical observatory, located in the area, have been evacuated.
Ten fire departments are participating in extinguishing the slopes at Monte Mario hill. By Wednesday evening, they had gotten part of the fire under control, according to the rescue service X.
Several cars have fallen victim to the flames. RAI was forced to interrupt live broadcasts of programs due to the fire. Several roads and streets are closed to traffic.
