After the terror attack in Manchester, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) comments on the safety of Swedish Jews. We take it extremely seriously. What happens there can happen in more places, he says.

Two people were killed and three seriously injured in the attack at a synagogue in Manchester in the United Kingdom on Thursday.

We have done a lot to increase security for Jewish institutions, I think almost everyone who visits a synagogue or passes by the Israeli embassy notices. My appeal is really that Sweden should be a safe and secure country for Swedish Jews, says Kristersson.

He says that the government "does everything" to prevent a terrorist attack from happening here.

But we have still seen alarming tendencies, we have seen threats that almost all Jewish congregations around Sweden can testify to. So it's serious already as it is.

Must the protection around Jewish objects be strengthened further?

We do not go exactly into what we do, but that we have strengthened the protection considerably I can guarantee.
