Gothenburg’s New Ruling Majority to Cut Full-Time Politicians’ Salaries by 5%

With its new majority, the red-green government will cut municipal councilors' fees by five percent, or around 4,000 kronor, next year.

“We will put the needs of the welfare system before our own salaries. Politicians already earn high salaries, and we will therefore cut the fees of full-time politicians for the first time,” says Marie Brynolfsson (V), first vice-chair of the municipal board, to the newspaper.

The monthly fee is currently 77,795 kronor. After the cut next year, fees for full-time politicians will once again be calculated using a new model, GP writes.
