Riks has received a large donation from the Sweden Democrats in recent years, amounting to around 8 million kronor.
In 2025, Rplay, the company that runs the media channel, had a turnover of 16.2 million kronor. The support therefore accounts for a large share of its income.
It is something I have been extremely grateful for and that has enabled us to get to where we are today, says Jacob Hagnell.
According to information provided to TT, the SD executive committee will meet this week and is expected to discuss the party's so-called operating budgets. The SD party board will set the budget in mid-December, and a final decision will then be made on whether to withdraw the support, Dagens Nyheter reports.
Riks has 15 employees, Hagnell says, as well as some freelance contracts. If the support is not received, there could be talk of notices and layoffs. However, the CEO does not want to confirm this.
I can neither confirm nor deny anything.
If the donation is not received, however, it would be a severe blow to the media company.
Regardless of whether the name is Volvo, Scania, Riks, or whatever, if a significant part of the turnover disappears, it is a problem.
Hagnell says Riks has worked hard to secure its own sources of income since the channel was launched, including through its YouTube channel.
Correction: An earlier version contained an incorrect description of Riks' YouTube channel.
