The 28-year-old Kenyan is accused by the Athletics Integrity Unit of "avoiding, refusing or failing to submit to testing”.
Kibiwott Kandie set a record on the half-marathon in Valencia in 2020 and also won the half-marathon in Barcelona last year, two seconds ahead of Swede Andreas Almgren.
Almgren is now writing on Instagram, with a video from the finish line, asking "guess who can become the winner of Barcelona's half-marathon 2024?"
It's always sad when people make doping offenses, but it's good if it comes out. Then I don't really have any hope that it will affect my race, says Almgren to Aftonbladet.
When he finished second on Barcelona's half-marathon, it was on a new Swedish record time of 59.22.
Almgren is asked if he thinks he should be awarded the victory.
I don't know exactly what he has done. But it always feels a bit dirty when someone gets caught for something like that and comes ahead of you. It would probably have made a pretty big difference for me to win such a race, both economically and confidence-wise, says the Swede to the newspaper.
