A preliminary investigation has been initiated against four doctors at Karolinska University Hospital in Region Stockholm who are suspected of bribery and disloyalty to their principal, reports Sveriges Radio Ekot.

The preliminary investigation has been initiated since Karolinska University Hospital reported the doctors to the police. They have, through their own company, sold IT services to the hospital for nearly 50 million kronor since 2013. At the same time, one of the doctors has been Karolinska's reference on invoices to the company.

Money has also been paid out to the company over the past two years, despite the lack of an agreement according to the police report. 20 million kronor are said to have been paid out for technical development that the hospital claims not to have ordered.

Two of the doctors who Ekot has spoken to deny the allegations and claim that the police report is part of a defamation campaign.
