When the time comes, she will "participate in the election as a candidate", says Julia Navalnaya.

My political opponent is Vladimir Putin. And I will do everything to make his regime fall as soon as possible.

As long as Vladimir Putin holds power, she will not return from her exile, she says.

The 48-year-old economist has emerged as a leading figure among Russian opposition figures after her husband's death. Last summer, she was formally wanted by Russia, accused of membership in an "extremist organization". Shortly thereafter, she was also placed on Russia's black list of "terrorists" and "extremists".

Alexei Navalny died under unclear circumstances in an Arctic penal colony in February. Julia Navalnaya is convinced that he was murdered on the orders of the Russian president.

Vladimir Putin is responsible for the murder of my husband, she says in the interview.
