Jomshof on the suspicion: "I haven't done anything wrong"

Richard Jomshof (SD) has been questioned by the police and is now formally suspected of the crime of incitement against a ethnic group. I do not think I have done anything wrong. I think the images clearly describe what I stand for, says Richard Jomshof to TT.

Jomshof has stepped down as chairman of the Justice Committee during the investigation. On Tuesday, he was questioned about two images he shared on X last spring, which are now being investigated for incitement to racial hatred.

He does not regret sharing the images or think he should have done anything differently. The fact that he is now being investigated for a crime will not change his way of expressing himself.

No, I will continue to act as I always have.

He believes it is clear what he means and that it is not about incitement to racial hatred.

There is not a single example where I have lumped all individuals together. It has never happened. It's about caricatures. They are sharp, absolutely, but they describe a problem. I will not act in any other way.

Do you have support in the party?

Yes, I experience that.

The caricature must also have its place, even in sensitive issues. If someone wonders what I mean by this - why not ask the question instead of misinterpreting and misrepresenting.

What happened during the questioning?

I got questions about the images and tried to answer and nuance as well as I could. It is part of my political work and questions that we in the Sweden Democrats raise all the time. They are images that can be linked to real problems. It's clear it's sensitive, but we must be able to do it, otherwise the debate dies.

He does not know how long the investigation will take.

But I hope it goes quickly. I want to return to the Justice Committee as chairman. I think I've done a good job.

Two images that Richard Jomshof shared on X on May 28 are being investigated as incitement to racial hatred.

In one of the images, a migrant family is welcomed into a house with the text "Europe" on it. In the next image, the house has been set on fire and the father and son in the family are running away screaming: "Islam first".

In the second image, a man and two women in a boat marked "England" rescue a Pakistani migrant from drowning. In the next image, the migrant attacks the three people in the boat and hits the man overboard with a club with the text "Rape jihad".
