The clip that Timrå posted on social media went viral quickly.

It was in a training match against Vasa that Timrå's new coach delivered a severe scolding in a period break where the word "fuck" was used countless times.

Some people might think I'm a bastard after seeing the video. I was just being myself and the players know how I am as a person. It's the only time so far I've raised my voice and used that language, says Jokinen who made 16 seasons in NHL and played 1,231 matches.

Only three Finnish players have scored more points in NHL than Jokinen's 750 – Teemu Selänne, Jari Kurri, and Saku Koivu.

"Will hear about it"

Jokinen also had over 1,000 penalty minutes in NHL, so the clip might not have surprised many.

The players know that the only thing I demand is that they give their all and do it in every shift. If we do that, we'll be good as a collective. If they don't, they'll hear about it, says the 45-year-old hockey icon.

Star forward Jonathan Dahlén laughs when the scolding is mentioned:

I thought he would be even angrier. It looked that bad. He has the North American style, that's where he's been. It's the only time I've seen him angry during the preseason.

"Fantastic fun"

Jokinen has introduced a new playing system in Timrå with an intense and aggressive forechecking where his players should be in the face of the opponents.

It's a fantastic fun way to play hockey. I've enjoyed every day of the preseason. In the beginning, we maybe exhausted ourselves a bit too much and got completely tired. Now we've learned more and more and save energy, says Dahlén.

Jokinen, most recently coach in Finnish Jukurit, calls it a North American way of playing.

There's been a lot new for the players, both how we train and play, but I'm surprised at how quickly they learn. At the same time, there's still much to develop, says he.

Jokinen has signed a two-year contract with an option for another year. Timrå's goal this season:

I hope all teams in SHL have the goal of taking gold, otherwise I'll be disappointed, but the playoffs are an absolute minimum.
