Japanese authorities are urging residents to stop hoarding disaster packages and daily necessities.

Fear is widespread in the country after 14 people were injured in a magnitude 7.1 earthquake in southern Japan. The location of the earthquake is in a vulnerable area, and the country's meteorological institute therefore stated that the risk of a "huge earthquake" was increased.

On Saturday morning, portable toilets and canned food were among the most sought-after products on the e-commerce giant Rakuten's website.

However, while the risk is increased, experts believe that the risk is still low.
