Japanese citizens urged to stop stockpiling

Japanese authorities are urging residents to stop hoarding disaster packages and daily necessities.

Fear is widespread in the country after 14 people were injured in a magnitude 7.1 earthquake in southern Japan. The location of the earthquake is in a vulnerable area, and the country's meteorological institute therefore stated that the risk of a "huge earthquake" was increased.

On Saturday morning, portable toilets and canned food were among the most sought-after products on the e-commerce giant Rakuten's website.

However, while the risk is increased, experts believe that the risk is still low.
