Instead, Amnesty Israel points to suspicions that "serious crimes" – such as crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing – are being committed and need to be investigated.

Israel intends to eradicate Palestinians in Gaza, according to the report from Amnesty International. It is based, among other things, on interviews, analysis of satellite images and video clips, reports from organizations on site, as well as statements from Israel's government and military.

"We were not among the initiators of the report and we did not collaborate in the writing of it or were involved in the financing or approval of the report", writes Amnesty Israel in a statement.

Amnesty International deeply regrets that "some members" of the Israeli section have chosen to distance themselves from the report, says a spokesperson for the organization.

Amnesty International stands by its rigorous research and its conclusions, says the spokesperson.
