Israel is also urging the new regime in Syria not to follow in al-Assad's footsteps, and is warning Syria against allowing Iran to "re-establish" itself.
If this regime allows Iran to re-establish itself in Syria, or allows the transfer of Iranian weapons or other weapons to Hezbollah, or if it attacks us, we will respond forcefully, and we will demand a heavy price, warns Benjamin Netanyahu.
"Great success"
Israel is also confirming that the military has hit several Syrian vessels in attacks during the night.
IDF (Israel's military) has carried out operations in Syria in recent days to attack and destroy strategic capabilities that threaten Israel, says Defense Minister Israel Katz.
The Navy carried out operations last night to destroy the Syrian fleet, with great success.
Hundreds of attacks
Israel has targeted military targets across Syria and has also entered with ground forces in a demilitarized buffer zone on the Syrian side of the border.
The UK-based conflict monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) counts at least 310 Israeli airstrikes since Sunday. They are said to have targeted the "most important military positions" in Syria, such as airbases, weapons depots, radar installations, and naval vessels.
Israel's military, however, claims to have carried out around 480 attacks in the last 48 hours.
Even before al-Assad's fall, Israel has carried out many and regular airstrikes against targets in Syria.
