Increased surplus in German trade

The surplus in the German trade balance increased to 24.9 billion euros in May, up from revised 22.2 billion euros in April.

The increase was significantly larger than expected. Analysts had on average expected 20.3 billion euros in May.

Exports in October fell 3.6 percent compared to the previous month. The decline in imports was even greater, 6.6 percent.
