According to the Fidesz party's proposal, pride is to be banned because it can be harmful to children. What is referred to as "promotion" of homosexuality to minors was banned in 2021 in Hungary.

According to the bill, it will be possible to fine individuals who participate in or organize the parade, and it will be possible to use facial recognition to identify individuals who participate.

The government has never supported the parade, and in recent years, several laws have been introduced in the country that restrict the rights of LGBTQI individuals, including that only heterosexual marriages are allowed.

So far, no date has been set for when a vote on the bill will be held, but it is expected to be introduced in mid-April.

However, the organizers of the pride in Budapest announce that preparations are still underway.
