After a period with generally low forest fire risk in Sweden, the fire hazard is now increasing again in some areas.
The risk is estimated to be high in Norrbotten, Skåne, and on Gotland in the coming days, according to SMHI.
Although it is currently wet in the soil in large parts of Sweden, the forest fire risk is expected to be high in several areas over the weekend.
Today, Saturday, the risk is high on Gotland, and tomorrow, two areas in both the northern and southern parts of the country will be added. We have issued warnings for Skåne and northeastern Norrland, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at SMHI.
On Sunday, the weather is expected to be generally sunny with varying cloudiness and temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees. Despite both heat and sunshine, the conditions for forest fires remain weak in large parts of the country.
It's not directly linked to the weather in that way, the risk of forest fires swings a bit slower than, for example, grass fires, says Sofia Söderberg.
Sunday will be a predominantly sunny day, but there is still a lot of moisture in the soil in many areas.
The risk of forest fires is expected to decrease in Skåne on Monday and on Gotland on Tuesday. Additionally, a rain shower is expected to move in over Svealand and Götaland on Monday.
