The sale of passenger cars decreased by 6 percent during the first half of the year, according to the industry organization Mobility Sweden. It's even worse for heavy trucks and buses, down by 16 and 29 percent, respectively.
Light trucks, however, continue to increase their sales, shows a compilation of the first six months of the year from the organization – up by 8 percent. But even for light trucks, the trend turned downward in June.
For passenger cars, it was a minus of 10 percent in June compared to the same month last year.
"It's gratifying that the share of electric cars reached an annual high in June, but we simultaneously see a stagnating market, which leads to a gradually aging vehicle fleet. To meet the climate goals and strengthen Sweden's competitiveness, it is crucial that electrification is accelerated," says Mattias Bergman, CEO of Mobility Sweden, according to a press release.
