Johan Norlén becomes Sweden's new naval chief.
"In the serious world situation that prevails, the focus is on making the navy's war units even sharper and better to continue keeping Sweden safe. The navy's continued integration into NATO is also a task that is high on my agenda", he says in a statement on the Defence Forces' website.
Norlén has been appointed by the Supreme Commander. He comes most recently from a job as military adviser at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and takes office on Thursday next week.
Two weeks ago, it became clear that Ewa Skoog Haslum is leaving the job as naval chief after four years in the post. She becomes the new head of the Defence Forces' operational leadership.
