The stock market sentiment was upbeat when the trading week began in the USA.
The S&P 500 index rose 1.1 percent, the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index increased 1.6 percent, while the Dow Jones industrial index went up 0.3 percent.
The technology sector performed strongly, for example, the semiconductor giant Nvidia rose 4.8 percent and software giant Microsoft increased 1.3 percent.
On Tuesday, Google's parent company Alphabet and electric car manufacturer Tesla are set to present their quarterly reports. The shares rose 2.3 percent and 5.2 percent, respectively.
During the day, mobile operator Verizon's quarterly report was released. It did not meet investors' expectations, and the share plummeted 6.1 percent.
Later in the week, other major companies such as American Airlines, Coca-Cola, and Ford are also set to present their quarterly reports.
