Five men are being prosecuted in one of Denmark's largest cocaine busts. According to the indictment, 578 kilos of cocaine were dumped from a container ship in the sea off the Danish island of Langeland, before the men were arrested and detained in August last year.
"It's about an enormous amount of cocaine, which has been smuggled to Denmark with great systematicity and professionalism, and we naturally view this with great seriousness", says prosecutor Tobias Baadsgaard in a press release.
In total, six men were arrested in August. One of them has already been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Three of the defendants are suspected of smuggling several hundred kilos of cocaine in addition.
