Gotlandsbolaget Shipping Company buys Danish DFDS ferry line between Oslo-Fredrikshamn-Copenhagen. The price tag lands at around 400 million Danish kroner, equivalent to over 600 million Swedish kronor.
The deal includes two car and passenger ferries and a business with around 800 employees. The purchase is a further step in the shipping company's endeavour to "expand within passenger shipping and cruises".
"We see great potential in this deal. The line is functioning well today, and together with our new colleagues, we will both ensure continuity and develop the product", says Håkan Johansson, CEO of Gotlandsbolaget, in a press release.
Through the deal, the group is doubling the number of employees.
The ferry line had around 700,000 passengers last year, according to the press release.
