At a press conference, the Minister for Employment accounted for potential consequences of the new customs agreement between the EU and the USA.
According to Johan Britz, who refers to available not entirely new statistics, approximately 41,000 people work directly in companies in Sweden that have exports to the USA and that now risk being affected by higher customs duties compared to what applied before Donald Trump took office as president.
Even more are affected indirectly, says Britz and adds that it is still a modest assessment.
It includes, among other things, employees in the wood and pulp industry, companies that manufacture chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and not least the automotive industry.
However, how many jobs that ultimately risk disappearing is difficult to have any notion of, according to the minister.
