Trade was cautious on the New York stock exchange ahead of Wednesday's interest rate decision from the central bank Federal Reserve, and the leading indexes rose slightly. But after the decision – that the key interest rate remains unchanged – many prices fell.

The message was expected among investors on Wall Street, but it is also believed to irritate President Donald Trump.

The Dow Jones industrial index fell by 0.4 percent and the broad S&P 500 index closed at minus 0.1 percent, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 0.2 percent.

Against the trend went Electronic Arts after the game company exceeded the forecasts for the latest quarter. The company also stated that revenues from EA Sports and other games were better than expected and that a new edition of Battlefield will be presented on Thursday. The share rose 5.7 percent.
