A man in his 30s got in touch with a 12-year-old girl on Snapchat and made her pregnant. He is now being prosecuted for child rape at Uppsala District Court, reports UNT.
The rape allegedly took place earlier this year in Uppsala County. According to the girl, the man claimed to be significantly younger than he was. The man, who according to UNT denies the crime but admits to having had sex, claims in turn that he believed the girl was 18 years old.
According to the indictment, the girl became pregnant and a paternity test conducted before she had an abortion shows that the man is the father.
The man was arrested at the end of October and has been detained since then.
