"I was forced to either sign or live with the consequences", says Edmundo González Urrutia in a video published on X, and refers to "coercion, blackmail, and pressure".

According to González Urrutia, Maduro's aide presented the document to him at the Spanish embassy in Caracas before he fled to Spain to apply for asylum.

Venezuela has been plunged into a political crisis after the presidential election in July, which both the opposition and the incumbent President Nicolás Maduro claim to have won. The EU, USA, UN, and several of Venezuela's neighboring countries have questioned Maduro's victory claim since the election data has not been fully disclosed.

González Urrutia lived in hiding for a period, but fled a couple of weeks ago to Spain with his wife.
