Asian stock exchanges largely started the week on a minus, as investors took a stance on both the effects of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump and China's economy growing less than expected during the second quarter.
In Tokyo, the important Nikkei 225 index had fallen by 2.5 percent and the Topix index had decreased by 1.2 percent.
The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong had lost around 1.2 percent around lunchtime.
Even on the Shenzhen composite index, the outlook was bleak with a minus of 0.7 percent, while Shanghai's composite index had increased by 0.1 percent.
