The police began investigating the man after receiving a tip that he had shared videos of the abuse online.
The man has been in custody since February of this year. He has now been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison for, among other things, aggravated rape.
He repeatedly drugged his wife with sedatives before raping her, the court in the city of Aachen wrote in a statement.
He is also said to have filmed the abuse and shared the videos in various chat groups online.
The verdict will not undo what happened, but it may help (the victim) some in processing and dealing with what happened, said the wife's lawyer.
German media have compared the rapes to the high-profile case in France last year, when Dominique Pelicot was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging and raping his wife for many years. He also invited other men to rape her.
