Trump Says Greenland Deal Is Worth $5 Trillion, Dismissing Iran War Costs as Peanuts

President Donald Trump claims that US spending on the war in Iran is “peanuts” compared with what the country has earned from Greenland and Venezuela, a few hours before the midterm elections.

The statement was made during an interview with Fox News the night before Tuesday's election. In the conversation, he refers to information that the US has spent 30 billion dollars on the war in Iran.

It's "peanuts" (small money), he says, claiming that the US "earned many times that much" on Venezuela and the "purchase" of Greenland.

If you look at Greenland, it (the agreement with Denmark and Greenland) is worth five trillion dollars.

The agreement that was concluded in September gives the US the right to build new military bases in Greenland, among other things, but it is unclear how the country would earn 5,000 billion dollars from it.

According to CNN's source information the total US war spending in Iran was just over $45 billion at the beginning of September.
