The global prices of food commodities continued to rise in May, which was the third month in a row, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
In May, the increase was 0.9 percent compared to April. The main driver of the price increase was grains, up 6.3 percent, while sugar and vegetable oils went in the opposite direction.
However, compared to May last year, it is still about total price declines on a year-over-year basis, minus 3.4 percent.
