During the first half of this year, 4,900 white-collar workers have received support from TRR to seek new employment. That is 1,500 fewer than at the same time last year, says Erica Sundberg, operations manager at TRR.
We see this as a clear recovery. Even though it is still a recession, the demand for labour has increased, she says.
Public sector
Above all, it is the public sector that needs more civil servants.
It is the defence sector, the security industry, the correctional service, and municipalities and regions that need civil servants.
The private sector hasn't really got going yet, but that's usually the case, she explains. The public sector is taking the lead.
82 percent of those laid off get a new job.
Most go to permanent jobs, only a small number to temporary or fixed-term employment. Some, 6 percent, start studying, and about the same proportion start their own businesses.
Takes time to look for a job
On average, it now takes 227 days from the time TRR receives the unemployed until they leave with a new job or new employment, she says.
It takes time to look for a job. It's a craft. The advice is to try to think that regardless of age and background, it works out for the vast majority of people. You may be a little dishevelled when you come to us, but we try to light the spark.
Her view is that the ageism that many people talk about is not such a big problem.
We see that things are going well even for senior civil servants. The 227 days may be a little longer, but it is possible to get a job.
She advises everyone, even white-collar workers who have jobs, to take care of their house and ensure they develop their skills.
We live in a changing world, says Erica Sundberg.
Fact: Most people get jobs
4,900 people made redundant have been granted support from the TRR Trygghetsrådet during the first half of the year. This is 1,500 fewer than last year.
During the second quarter of this year, 2,800 people who received support from TRR have found new jobs or started studying.
The average time to find new employment is 227 days.
