Last year, almost 1.48 million crimes were reported, which was 1 percent fewer than in 2023.

The crime category that decreased the most is theft. In 2024, 348,289 thefts and robberies were reported, which is a decrease of 9 percent compared to the previous year.

Theft from and of motor vehicles decreased by as much as 25 percent. The reason is that modern cars are becoming increasingly difficult to break into, according to Brå.
