The legendary music and film producer Quincy Jones passed away just a few weeks before the Oscars gala, where he was to be awarded an honorary statue for his contributions to film.
Instead, his children were present to accept the statue. His daughter, actress Rashida Jones, said that her father had looked forward to attending the gala.
He often said "live every day as if it's the last, and one day you'll be right". He lived that way, the best, most beautiful life, she said to standing ovations.
Quincy Jones produced, among other things, Steven Spielberg's "The Color Purple" in 1985 and the TV series "Roots" in 1977. He has been Oscar-nominated seven times over the past 55 years, but has had to leave the gala empty-handed.
He passed away at the age of 91 due to pancreatic cancer.
